Al-Ahli recovered from a half-time shortage with three goals to grab a sensational point against Al-Hilal, with 3-3 in Al Inma Bank Stadium in King Abdullah Sport City.
Two goals in nine minutes late from Ivan Toney led the revival before Merih Demiral sealed part of the loot in the first minute of the second half of the stop time.
Theo Hernandez opened the score for Al-Hilal after just 12 minutes, with the former AC Milan defender gathering the pass from Malcom before he finished in the near post of Edouard Mendy.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic then hit the woodwork nine minutes later before Malcom scored his first of the game in the 24th minute after Darwin Nunez’s good work.
And only a few moments after he had seen his efforts disappear from the line, Salem Al Dawsari Malcom rose from the edge of the box to apparently put the game out of sight.
Al-Ahli, however, quickly came out of the blocks in the second half and registered four shots in the first six minutes, but had to wait until 12 minutes from time to withdraw one.
Toney was able to find a way along Yassine Bounou after he had passed the ball past the goalkeeper from the low cross of Firas al-Buraikan, but he was not ready there.
The international of England found the back of it just after he was selected by the pass of Riyad Mahrez, and the former City of Manchester was again involved and delivered a teasing corner to Demiral’s head.
The comeback from Al-Ahli ensured that they stayed right on points with their opponents in the Saudi Pro League, who was eighth, one place behind Al-Hilal on target difference.

Elsewhere, Al-Qadsiah moved to the top of the Saudi Pro League with a 2-1 win over Al-Khaleej in the earlier kick-off.
Mateo Retegui opened the score for the hosts after 10 minutes, but they had to wait until the 91st minute on a winner of Abdullah Al Salem after former Manchester United striker Josh King equalized for Al-Khaleej.
Data debrief: goals again in abundance
Al-Hilal can hurt itself in that match, after making 1.96 expected goals (XG) to the 1.52 of Al-Ahli, but the hosts showed a great resilience in the second half when they registered 12 shots among the three of the visitors.
But the goals in this fixture do not come as a surprise. The last eight meetings between the two parties have now produced 4.3 goals per match, compared to the 2.4 in the 25 games before.
While Toney will receive compliments for his two late goals, Mahrez was the star for Al-Ahli. He ended the competition with team -high Totals for created opportunities (eight), touches (77), passes in the last third (29) and total crosses (10).
