Earlier this week we have an example of two very special Acuras on the way to Monterey Car Week. One was the return of the one -off NSX Roadster from Tony Stark, now set for an auction of 2026. The other was this, the Acura RSX prototype EV, which now made his global debut in California.
The RSX follows the recent pattern of Acura to use Monterey to show his EV -FOOW. In 2022, the Japanese brand unveiled the Precision EV concept. Last year it showed the electric vision design study and the ZDX concept, with the last Acura’s first production –ev on the Ultium platform of GM.
Painted in a striking shade of propulsion yellow pearl against a black roof, the RSX Prototype EV is a sharp styled preview of the production version of the RSX that arrives at the end of 2026. This will be the first Acura model that is completely designed in-house on its own new Global EV platform from Honda. The production starts at the end of 2025 with the new EV -Hub of the brand in Marysville, Ohio, on the same line as the Integra. With this flexible production set-up, Honda can build ice, hybrid and EV models together.
Acura says that the RSX will mark its access to the “Software -defined vehicle” era with ASIMO OS, Shown for the first time on CES 2025. This own system integrates automated driving behavior, advanced drivers aid, infotainment and other vehicle systems, while your driving habits and preferences are taught. Updates about the air will add functions over time.
Performance hardware is confirmed: Dual-Motor four-wheel drive, sports-matched double wishbone front hanging and powerful Brembo brakes are all standard, with Acura claiming a low center of gravity. However, the company has not yet released specific figures for horsepower, torque, range or battery capacity, so exact performance numbers remain under wraps. The RSX also works as a mobile energy storage, able to provide power devices or to offer back -up power from home.
Styling draws heavily out of the Acura Performance EV concept, with a slim coupé-like fastback roof line, retractable handles and a spoiler in duckentail style. The design of the separate head lamp, slimmer DRLs and functional lower fascia improve aerodynamics and cooling. A rear light for the entire width is a tribute to the second generation NSX, and the new font “Acura” is stamped over the tailgate. Wide flared wheel arches house 21-inch multi-spoaks wheels, framing bright red brembo brake claws.
The RSX prototype makes his debut on the quail on Friday, August 15 at 10:36 am PT, followed by an appearance on the concept lawn of Pebble Beach on Sunday, August 17.
