Darren Fletcher’s Manchester United U18S organized Middlesbrough on Saturday morning in Carrington.
The match was their second of the competition campaign after opening a 0-1 win over Everton.
First half
United took the lead in the 23rd minute, Bendito Mantato cut from the right wing to end low along the keeper.
The visitors looked back, but Amir Ibragimov was quickly covered and freeing.
The 14-year-old Wonderkid called “Kid Messi”, JJ Gabriel, doubled the lead five minutes before the break.
A long ball over the top set Samuel Lusale in the box to shoot. His effort was blocked, but Gabriel was at the hand to finish the rebound.
Second half
The physicality of Middlesbrough caused some problems, but United’s talent seemed as the competition progressed. Middlesbrough brought a number of serious challenges in frustration.
Just after the hour Mark, Ibragimov, brought the score to 3-0 for United.
Lusale played the ball back to Starlet born in Russia on the edge of the box. He curled himself in the far right corner and produced a goal of the candidate for the season.
Gabriel then scored his second of the game.
Mantato cut in from the right wing before he put it to the young phenomenon. Gabriel shifted quickly on his left foot and hit it powerfully in the top left corner.
Kai Rooney then closed the score in the 77th minute after a little fortune.
The cross of Mantato was initially deflected opposite Rooney, who had also bent his shot to make it run into the goal.
In the end, United had too much quality on the day and 5-0 winners got up.
The young Red Devils are now focusing their attention on the Premier League Cup, where they will meet Brighton on Wednesday.
