With Catcher Cal Raleigh that reaches the 50-Homer-Mijlpaal on Tuesday evening, it is easy to overlook what he does on each side of the plate as a Switch-Hitter during his monster season.
Raleigh’s 50th Thuis Run on Monday evening against the San Diego Padres was not only something of beauty, but also his 20th as a right -handed batter.
If you only take those 20 home runs and place Raleigh in a team other than the Seattle Mariners, he would pacen six other teams in Homers.
Only use his 30 home runs that he has struck from the left side of the plate and Raleigh would be the current home leader of 22 other MLB teams. Among them are the Houston Astros, the Seattle team haunts the American League West (the 22 gays of Jose Altuve Tempo de Astros on their way to Tuesday’s action).
So what other teams have a 30-homer player on their selection on their way to Tuesday’s game?
Los Angeles Dodgers – Shohei Ohtani (45)
Philadelphia Phillies – Kyle Schwarber (45)
New York Yankees – Aaron Judge (40)
Seattle Mariners – Eugenio Suarez (40, including 36 hit as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks)
Tampa Bay Rays – Junior Caminero (39)
New York Mets – Juan Soto (32)
Detroit Tigers – Riley Greene (31)
Los Angeles Angels – Taylor Ward (30)
In what has already been a historic season for 28-year-old Raleigh, he is also the first player in the MLB history that hit 20 home runs from each side of the album in one season and surpassed the songs by respected switch Hitters such as Mickey Mantle, chipper Jones and Eddie Murray.
With the Mariners with 30 more games in the regular season, Raleigh was still able to be on pace for a 60-home walking season. In the MLB history there have only been 51 50-homer seasons and only nine times have a player hit 60 home runs in a campaign (the most recent is the 62 of Aaron Judge in 2022).
How far Raleigh and the Mariners can go, will be one of the largest MLB story lines in the late season in what has already been a spectacular season in the Pacific Northwest.
