In today’s $25,000 feature, Hacksaw Ridge led, with Audacity taking control of the course and Misty Blue and driver Sheree Tomlinson three back on the inside.
Vessem applied some pressure, but as he turned in it was clear the race would be fought between Hacksaw Ridge, Audacity and Misty Blue.
Once the field straightened out, Audacity’s driver Ross Cameron opted to deviate from the inside running line to challenge Hacksaw Ridge. This allowed Tomlinson to move into the passing lane. Although Audacity arrived late, Misty Blue managed to win by a margin, while Hacksaw Ridge finished a length and a half back in third place.
“She had a great trip and I was hoping the pace would continue, which happened when Olivia (Olivia Thornley driving Vessem) attacked from the back, which suited us very well. I knew Audacity had a lot of speed and I didn’t think I would outrun him. I would have been happy with second place. I didn’t turn the stick. She just did it all on her own,” said Sheree.
FOGGY BLUE REPEAT

The victory was Misty Blue’s seventh on start number forty.
“She’s just performing out of her skin at the moment and we couldn’t be happier with her. She loves it when the pace is pushed. The last few runs haven’t gone to plan. She wasn’t nominated for today as we thought the field would be quite strong. When the fields were announced I was a little concerned as I didn’t think I would have a show with some of the ones added.”
Trained by Ken Ford and his daughter Amanda Tomlinson, Misty Blue is named after the 1976 song by Dorothy Moore.
“Gary Anderson, my neighbor, liked the song, so he mentioned her,” Bruce Negus said.

The ownership group includes Bruce and Colleen, Gary Anderson, Debra Negus, Sheree Tomlinson and race day caller Matt Cross.

“She’s been a great mare for us. We just love her.”
