Duchess Maria (Father Patrick) Stamped her dominance in the two -year -old ranging ranks with win number four on the trot, on Addington last night.
In the inaugural course of the $ 50,000 group three, the Sundon, driver Nathan Williamson pushed early to go the running. He then handed over to Landman before Kyvalley Ray took over.
“There is still a lot of racing to come for the two -year -olds and we were fresh tonight. She had only had one quiet test, so I didn’t want to wage war with anything. I was very happy to follow the path and drive her for her speed,” Williamson said.
As soon as the field went up for the run, Williamson used the fast foot of Duchess Maria and shot her the passing lane to win two lengths from Kyvalley Ray.
“She shows that she currently has the full package, so hopefully she can now hold this form until the end of the year.”

The winning time of 2-27.5 was 1.5 seconds outside the Fillies record of High Energy of 2-26.0.

“When she returned, she didn’t hit a good rhythm, so we played with a few things, but I was really satisfied with her for the past two or three weeks. She worked well to bring her to this race, but it was in mind that she could be vulnerable. I was excited with the way it worked and with the way she did it.”

Williamson says that Duchess Maria is the best two -year -old trotter with which he has something to do with.
“The vast at every level of every level. She is now four of four and they have all been group races. She is in the conversation as the best two -year -old who goes around. So it is certainly exciting.”

The plan is to bring Duchess Maria back to Addington on 24one October for the $ 45,000 Group Three Macca Lodge Sires’ Stake Two -year -old Trotting Fillies Classique before racing her in the $ 120,000 Group One Irt Sires Stakes two -year -old Trotters Championship on Show Day.
Hertogess Maria is owned by John and Katrina Price and is from Father Patrick from Maria Tsarina, a four Win Muscle Hill Mare.
“We thought we had to diversify and get some carriers. We bought a yearling private when Peter Lagan offered us Maria Tsarina. She was racing at that time. We really love the Muscle Hill part (of her family tree) and the fact that there are not too much in New Zealand,” Katrina said.
The prices ran Maria Tsarina for a handful start before she retired and accompanied by Father Patrick and Hertogin Maria is the resulting marefish.
“She was on her way to Jaarling sales, but a month before the sale she dived out a big splint. She was a bit of pain in it, so we pulled her back from the sale. In retrospect it was great because the father did not sell Patrick Fillies at all and we probably gave her away. So we were lucky in that regard.”
Since Duchess Maria has been a shy breeder, but she is safe in foal for King of the North.
The prices have drawn many pacers, owned and trained, but the possession of carriers and watching them racing is quite new for the winton pair.
“I find it pretty nerve -racking. With Pacers you rate if they have the speed or can hold them. While with trotters you think they will stay in their loop? It is a very different dynamic that you have in mind.”
Katrina said that if a young horse Hertogin Maria was ‘a bit funny around the head’, but her yearling preparation changed that.
“The JaarlingPrep was the best for her. The only thing is that she doesn’t really like relaxing in the paddock. If she goes to the other side of the paddock, she likes to get there quickly. She was a bit bored and likes to be busy and it remains busy.”
It was a good night for the south -bred southern horses, with Lakelsa (CaptainTreachous) Returning to winning form in the Spring Sprint series of the Woodlands Mares and another SBSR runner Ruby Roe defeated that was also bred by the prizes.
Ruby Roe’s trainer Nathan Williamson said: “She is definitely a big girl this time. I would expect that she would really improve what she was doing tonight. She has races that leads to the cup meeting every two to three weeks. It seems that she is also a nice campaign.”
In the meantime, the price role continued in Alexandra Park when I was southerly (Bettor’s pleasure) won his third race.
“The other owners paid a lot of money for him, so it was nice for them to pick up the metro final ($ 33,163),” said Katrina.
He is out of Hartofdixie and was sold at the NZB Standard Bred Yearling sales of 2023 for $ 240,000. The prices retained a share in the Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan trained three years old.
American iDeal Mare Hartofdixie, who won six races for Purdon, was recently sold to North Canterbury breeder Davinia Harrison.
The prices certainly have a great value of Hartofdixie. Her 2021 yearling eruption was also a seller who sold to Emilio Rosati for $ 320,000.
In the meantime, the SBSR role continued in Perth with the two -year -old D Mac (Downbytheseaside) Winning the Golden slipper of $ 150,000.
The foal was developed and qualified for Southland trainer Brad Morris and comes from the breed of his grandfather Ronnie McDonald.
Last night D Mac led by Gary Hall SNR completely and won with a comfortable 5.7 meters.
The John Stiven breeding Arden’s Horizon (Bettor’s pleasure) Also won in Gloucester Park. He has now won fifteen races in Australia and more than $ 200,000.
