The Tipssport Extrigala season is underway in the Czech Republic, where all fourteen teams have already played around six games. The Kladno Knights today played their sixth game against White Tigers Liberec, and they lacked the scoreboard with a 4-1 loss as a decision. Kladno places that loss on a 1-4-0-1 record because of those six games in which the Knights have only scored eight goals. Despite some new talent on the selection and new property, the knights are in 13th place in the 14-team competition, so that they have to turn things around if they want to start the rebuilding. But not everything is the same, because there is no specific song in the Kladno schedule during the first two weeks ever a fixture.
It was perhaps a surprise to see a non-signed Jaromir Jagr on the ice with Kladno in the preseason, but the 53-year-old played six pre-season games, which essentially deserved a schedule next to Linemates Antonín Melka and Kelly Klíma. It seemed that he was ready to start his 38th season of professional hockey, but Jagr is curious in the line -up again. What’s going on with #68 this year?
As you can See on the linked scheduleThere is no sign of the name or number of Jagr on the Kladno schedule. He had signed a deal to play this season on Tuesday 9 September, but according to the team, Jagr has given an injury That has kept him out of the line-up since the season started when his debut for the 2025-26 season is on hold.
“We lost three players just before the start of the Extriga, but these are all things in the short term,” Head coach David čermák told reporters Without calling the players. “They should be back soon.”
Čermák was right about two of those three players, because the only skater who is still not in the line -up is JAGR. With games against the powerful HC Dynamo Pardubice and Middle-of-the-Pack teams HC Skoda Plzen and HC Oceláři Třinec this week, getting an attacking weapon such as Jaromir Jagr is a priority for Kladno in the line-up. Of course, Jagr Playing Hurt may not be the best solution for the target score of the Knights, but they absolutely need some help to dent the rope.
On the other hand, Father Time has proven to be a fickle opponent for Jagr, because he has not reached double digits in goals in four seasons, and he has not set more than 19 points in any of those seasons. He had five goals and 16 points last year, but that goal was totally the same as what he had combined from 2022-24. If JAGR still has some water pressure in the youth fountain he seems to possess, he may need it for Kladno to make a play -off place.
What is certain is that we know that Jagr is meticulous about his own health, and I doubt whether he goes back to the ice if he doesn’t feel 100%. The problem is that there might be busy on him to return earlier than he wants to losing Kladno, and I am not sure if his 53-year-old body can play the tweaks if he could ever. That said, it is also difficult to say whether JAGR is still the player who can change the fortune of his team when he gets the bank off his last few seasons in the Extrigaa.
I will fully admit that it does not feel a hockey season until Jaromir Jagr plays a match somewhere on the planet. It seemed that we would see the 38th consecutive year of that year happen, but an injury is that that is not a reality. I wish JAGR well in his recovery, and here hopes that he will soon be back on the ice for the Kladno Knights!
Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
