It is extremely rare to see two drivers from one stable that raise winners for a century in the same harness racess season.
Nevertheless, that performance was achieved last week when JYE CONEY joined his best partner Jett Turnbull to DOSO, amazing by four months to go in the current term.
Both young Reinsmen, who recently celebrated their 18th birthdays, dominated traces in the Central West of the State led by Jett’s father Nathan this year.
There is rarely a racing meeting in the district where the duo does not face each other, it is not unusual for Nathan to join them in races in which he has involved several runners.
Jett was the first to bring 100 victories before 2025 in June before he went to Queensland for the winter carnival to represent New South Wales in the Australasian Young Drivers series.
JYE sat down to Dubbo last Friday on 99 winners and only had to wait until race 2 to bring the barrel when he was able to score Mitch Turnbull on board the accidental for Mitch Turnbull.
The casual repetition
That was the first of a Treble for Coney; He later combined with Dubbo trainer James Sutton when Barlor Heaven made it three on the leap, while Seven Tee Two could also win for JYE and Nathan.
In 2024, JYE picked up 64 winners, but he really grew up this year.
“If it was suggested that I could ride 100 winners in a season so early in my career, I would probably have laughed at it,” said Jye.
“I think it is somewhat an achievement for both Jett and I to score centuries so early in the season when we mainly drive to one stable.
“I have been so happy that I had received strong support from external stables, something I am so grateful for.
“But I would not be in this position if it was not for Turnbull family, especially Carly and Nathan, who were willing to try me.
“I learned so much from everyone in the lagoon, it has been such an incredible ride.”
That is his popularity that JYE will ride in all nine races in Bathurst on Wednesday, his most important assignment is to be Evelyns Dragon in the Western Districts Derby when the gelding will chase his fourth consecutive victory.
