The mental side of running often makes jokes, but it is really a huge part of having a great training cycle and racing day. There is a lot that we can do during training to help with this, but a key tool is to perform mantras.
It can be as short as a single word or as long as a sentence.
The point is that you feel it deep and connect with it. Ideally, you will use it during some of your harder training runs from speed training to long runs, so that you have made that mental connection. But if you only start racing day, that’s okay.
We went deep into the mental stuff Virtual Run Club And I was blown away by how much the everyone’s runs shifted. Suddenly that long run was not so feared, the speed work was not so scary and those racing ducks were ready to be used for a masterful version.
But we can’t do a full lesson here, so let’s start with the easiest tool that we all have access now! Finding your marathon mantras or 5K mantras or when you have to pull them out.
What are rotating mantras?
It is a specific series of words that you repeat at difficult moments to help you find that inner strength to continue.
Once you have found the right mantra, repeat it again and again during that difficult time. This is actually a calming thing for your brain and enables you to come back to concentrate on the goal, instead of leting in your mind in mind about how difficult this is.
You know the feeling that you can do everything, the pride to push through, the knowledge of care for your body, the connection with others, the disconnection of shit that does not matter!
The right mantra helps you to tap this force, even with the moment is difficult.
Comes from that space, let’s talk about good mantras !! They not only work in running, but they also work from the road {out of the shoes?!}.
Lauren Oliver has nailed it with this explanation: “Running is a mental sport, more than anything. You are just as good as your training, and your training is only as good as you think.”

8 Elite Runner Mantras
Part of the reason that running mantras is so powerful is that you start using them during training, so that you have an association on racing day to get yourself through heavy runs or to hit your goal.
The best racing mantras are personal for you and your goal.

You have heard of yoga of the mat right? It is the idea to take silence, breathing, by working the difficult places and to lead your life in this way. Performing mantras are your way of finding that moment while you work hard.
How to use running mantras
Your brain works incredibly quickly in the approaching car, the barking dog and of course the pace on that watch!
It has no time for you to process the subconscious beliefs that pop up that tell you: “This is too fast for me“”, “I am probably tired after a week of hard work‘And so forth.
Which means that it is your job to give your subconscious new programming!
One of the fastest ways to do that is to find a mantra that resonates with you.
Every time you repeat it, your brain and body react … the more you use it, the more it is ingrained so that you start thinking without knowing!
My long time personal favorite: Stronger and stronger because of the mile. So we switched it on in a shirt that sport our run to the finish runners on those tough days!
Love RTTF -Coach Stacey Rocking her everywhere!
The best way to use a mantra is to find the one who most clearly resonates with how you want to feel and then repeat it slowly and with confidence.

As explained by Gloria Balague, Ph.D., a sports psychologist, “the words must be right to draw the correct reaction from the inside. The wrong words will not have an emotional ultrasound, not emotional resonance. Self -consciousness is an important psychological skill. You need to know what works best for you.”
Insight into how your words influence your run
You have heard of the conscious and subconscious mind, but you realized that you are often Driven by the thoughts that you are not aware of? Your conscious spirit takes over while you try to decide how to make a run in a last -minute phone call, a sanitary problem and a strong desire to finally squeeze food!
In the meantime, your subconscious mind starts to remind you that “you are lazy” or “you are a runner”.
It all depends on the program that has been repeated over the years over the years.
Of course we would not deliberately say things to ourselves that progress could derail, but we pick it up from magazine covers, small comments from teachers and suddenly those words change in beliefs: something that is our mind to be true.
I even divided with you in a few articles Power of thoughts about healing or Even preventing injuries!!
