Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia has officially launched the updated Ora Good Cat 2026 and the sportier Good Cat GT, the two electric vehicle models scheduled to arrive following last month’s announcement that they would debut on this date. Firstly, the prices and the cars – these are CBU units from Thailand – go for:
- GWM Ora Good Cat Ultra – RM109,800
- GWM Ora Good Cat GT – RM119,800
This means that the price of the Good Cat is now up to RM34k cheaper than before. In March 2024, the electric hatchback received a discount of RM26,000 across the range, while the 500 Ultra then went for RM143,800. Incidentally, the price in 2024 was already cheaper than when the car was first launched, when the 500 Ultra went for RM 169,800.

To mark the launch of the updated Good Cat range, GWM Malaysia is offering early bird buyers an additional discount of RM3,000, with the offer valid for all registrations completed before December 31, 2025. This brings up the price of the Good Cat Ultra RM106,800while the Good Cat GT will lead the way RM116,800 during the promotional period.
Let’s start with the basic version. The 2026 model year Good Cat Ultra for sale here is not the facelift unveiled in China in June, but the version that includes the minor updates that came about when the car switched to local CKD assembly in Thailand in January 2024.
As such, there are no external changes to the car, which made its Malaysian debut in November 2022, apart from a new So Blue with a black roof color. The same standard equipment remains, from the 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels (and 215/50 profile tires) and intelligent LED headlights and LED taillights to the adjustable side mirrors, automatic wipers and a panoramic sunroof.

The updates are subcutaneous and on the inside. For the latter, the cabin gets a new center console that replaces the rotary knob in favor of a column-mounted steering lever and a more accessible Qi wireless charging tray.
Furthermore, familiar items abound, including the seven-inch multi-info instrument display and 10.25-inch infotainment screen, as well as the leatherette upholstery. Also standard are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and a six-speaker audio system, and the Good Cat now also comes with support for the My GWM app.
As before, a single electric motor with an output of 143 hp and 210 Nm of torque provides drive through the front wheels, allowing the car to reach a top speed of 150 km/h. The most significant change concerns the battery, with the previous car’s 47.79 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and 63.14 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) options now combined into a single 57.7 kWh LFP pack, produced in Thailand by subsidiary Svolt.

This gives a range of 480 km on the NEDC cycle, slightly less than the 500 km (420 km WLTP) of the previous NMC-powered 500 Ultra. In terms of DC charging, it takes about 54 minutes to get the unit from a 0-80% state of charge at a maximum power of 60 kW, and about 38 minutes for a SoC of 30-80%. As for AC charging, it takes about nine hours to charge the battery at a rate of 6.6 kW.
Then the Ora Good Cat GT. It was first revealed in 2021 and it took a while to get there. As the suffix suggests, the presentation is sportier than the base Ultra, with a special GT body kit consisting of a more aggressively styled front bumper, deeper side skirts, a diffuser-style tailgate and a larger tailgate spoiler, all in gloss black, leading the external visual changes.
This is further complemented by the addition of faux carbon fiber body cladding/wheel arch extensions and 18-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels, with contrasting yellow accents on the bumpers, spoiler, door mirror caps, wheels and brake calipers completing the look.
The interior continues the sporty theme, with a black interior peppered with yellow contrast elements and suede-trimmed bucket seats with integrated headrests making the difference in presentation. The GT also comes with a power hands-free tailgate.
The GT still has a single-motor powertrain, but power has been increased to 171 hp (126 kW) and 250 Nm, and an increase of 28 hp (21 kW) and 40 Nm over the Good Cat Ultra. The top speed remains 150 km/h. It has the same LFP package of 57.7 kWh, which is good for a WLTP range of 380 km (460 km, NEDC). Charging speeds and times are the same as the standard Good Cat.
In terms of technology and safety equipment, both Good Cat models feature a level 2 ADAS suite, with AEB, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane keep/change assist and rear cross traffic alert as part of the comprehensive mix, and there’s also a transparent chassis and 360-degree camera system in there.

In terms of exterior colours, the Good Cat Ultra is available in Hazel Wood Beige with brown roof and Pistachio Green, in addition to the new So Blue with black roof. If you opt for the latter, you also get the 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, presented in gloss black, complete with the brake calipers finished in yellow.
Buyers also get different interior schemes depending on the variant: green/rice for the Pistachio Green, brown/rice for the Hazel Wood Beige and green/gray for the So Blue.
Meanwhile, the Good Car GT comes in two exclusive color options, Aqua Gray and Sun Black, with the black/yellow interior standard for both. Both the Ora Good Cat Ultra and Good Cat GT are covered by a six-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year/180,000 km battery warranty.
