Dynasty Startup Season is often reminiscent of starting a new romantic relationship. In many ways, you’ve learned valuable lessons about what works and, more importantly, what doesn’t. You promise yourself that you won’t repeat old mistakes. You tell yourself that you’ll stay patient, trust your board and not reach for the shiny new toy (are you listening, Jerry Jones?) just because everyone else is swooning. And yet, when you’re finally on the clock, the emotions creep back in.
The early rounds of a startup draft are a lot like the honeymoon phase. Rounds 1–3 are filled with butterflies, optimism, and big dreams about the future. You build something that you hope will be the foundation for a perennial contender. Every selection feels monumental. You debate cornerstone quarterbacks, elite wide receivers and young running backs who could anchor your lineup for years to come. It’s intoxicating. You envision championships, future rookie picks, and trading levers that will keep you competitive for the foreseeable future.
Then come rounds 15–20. The smell of new cars fades. Depth charts look darker. You’re working on breakout stats, ambiguous backfields and second-year tight ends who could eventually become something. This is where romance becomes reality. Depth wins championships, but identifying it isn’t always glamorous. You no longer choose superstars; you choose profiles, opportunities and patience. It can feel like you’re banging your head against the wall, especially when the snipes pile up and your queue is wiped out twice before you’re on the clock.
Ultimately, you step back from the design room with what you hope will be a solid foundation for years to come. Dynasty is a long game. A missed value in round 2 can carry over multiple seasons. Passing on youngsters for short-term production can change your competitive period. That’s part of the beauty and brutality of the format. As romantic as it may seem, Dynasty Fantasy Football is arguably more demanding than a love life. Bad choices aren’t just painful; they compound. Okay, maybe it’s just as demanding as a love life after all.
Welcome to this Bis
Putting the brakes on the hyperbole, let me formally welcome you to the first official match of Dynasty Football Factory Start-up model of the 2026 Dynasty. Over the coming weeks, our content team will outline key inflection points in the concept. We highlight favorite picks, discuss roster building strategies, and analyze positional runs that can shift an entire draft board in minutes. Here’s the draft through eight rounds.
As I say every year, the real excitement starts late and usually around round 9. This is where the direction of the selection crystallizes and raises questions: are you going all in? Are you focusing on young people and future capital? In these middle rounds, championships are quietly built up or competitive windows are quietly closed before they ever open.
We want to encourage you to follow the series and connect with us. If you have any questions, strategy dilemmas or specific scenarios you would like to discuss, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
