2026 Australian Open features 66 PTT-affiliated players

The 2026 Australian Open is underway, both current and past UTR Pro Tennis Tour (UTR PTT) players are ready to start the year strong Down Under.

A total of 66 current and former UTR PTT players and champions will take part in the singles qualifying or main draw at the first Grand Slam of the season, which started with qualifying on Monday.

This is the highest number of PTT-affiliated players competing in the Australian Open since the launch of the UTR PTT in 2021. Only one Grand Slam in the past two seasons, the 2024 US Open, featured more players with UTR PTT experience.

Scotland’s Jacob Fearnley, a former UTR PTT player, will face Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak in the first round of the competition. Australian Open 2026.

“I played PTT events at the start of my professional career, and I am a big supporter of the format, with guaranteed matches and guaranteed prize money,” said Fearnley, currently ranked No. 77 in the world.

Fearnley, a four-time All-American at TCU, rose to the ATP Top 100 after capturing four ATP Challenger titles in one season. He is one of 33 men with UTR PTT experience competing in the qualifying or main event, which starts on Sunday in Melbourne.

Another former UTR PTT standout, Learner Tien, arrives in Melbourne fresh off his 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals title. The American is seeded at a Grand Slam for the first time, coming in at number 25 and opening against compatriot Marcos Giron.

On the women’s side, No. 29 seed Iva Jovic leads the pack of current and former UTR PTT players. Jovic, who competed in the 2022 UTR PTT Newport Beach event, begins her Grand Slam season against Katie Volynets in an all-UTR PTT match.

Volynets, a former UTR PTT finalist, will be looking for her first victory in the main draw of the Australian Open (0-3).
