In the lone $45,000 split for second-year trotting colts, On To Norway and pilot John DeLong started from post 6 as the 1-9 favorite. On To Norway floated away in fourth early, while Operator (driven by Kyle Wilfong) trotted to the top during an opening quarter of :27.4. The operator hit the brakes to the halfway mark in:56.4 when On To Norway launched its first-over bid and moved to the leader’s wheel at three-quarters in 1:25.2. The rivals dropped the gloves in the stretch, with On To Norway taking a brief advantage in the track as Operator refused to go away. On To Norway trotted home in :27.1 to reach the wire in 1:52.4, half a length clear of a dead-game Operator. It was 6-1/2 lengths back to Sure Did (LeWayne Miller), who finished in third place.
