Narrogin Harness Racing coach Jeremy Thornton is not sorry that he described $ 1000 16 months ago to buy Majic Bay, who has proven a beautiful bargain.
Majic Bay was a chance of $ 12.80 when Corey Peterson brought him to a complete victory in the $ 21,000 Phil Putland Memorial Pace in Gloucester Park on Friday evening.
This was the 44th start of five -year -old Majic Bay for Thornton for the eighth victories, seven seconds and four thirds for deployments of $ 61,500.
“Hayden Reeves asked me in May last year if I wanted Majic Bay, and I said yes,” said 52-year-old Thornton, who works in the family carpet company in Narrogin and prepared a few pacers. “We won with our first start with him when he was an 115/1 outsider and beat Insta Gator in a race at Narrogin.”

The victory of Majic Bay On Friday evening, Thornton gave his first winner of the metropolitan class since nine -year -old Just Barney ran from behind August 20, 2021 to beat Rocknroll Whitby. His previous city winner was dollars on January 1, 2010.
The biggest Harness racing success of the family was when Thornton’s father was Neville owned and Eclipse Hanover trained for her victory in the $ 75,000 State Series-final for three-year-old mares in Gloucester Park on March 25, 1994.
Majic Bay, who has now raced 77 times for ten victories, 16 placements and $ 79,371, is by Nieuw -Zeeland’s father Franco Jamar, and is the second foal from Kunst Major Mare Scarlett Bay, who was retired after her only start when Second to Eric James in Pinjarra.
