Alexander Zverev will see a doctor in Shanghai on Sunday to judge the right big toe that he was injured, while today he extended his opening round victory against the Frenchman Valentin Royer in the ATP Masters 1000.
At the first point of the last match of the match, Zverev hurt his toe during the order of his serve. After won the point, he limited to his chair at the court, removed his shoe and called the ATP Fysio on the field for a first assessment.
Zverev then returned to court to serve the match for love. He stayed on the field for his interviews after the game, signed signatures for fans and then visited the physio again.
“I really don’t know what happened, so we’re going to look at it,” Zverev told Atptour.com after the second physio visit. “There is nothing with the bone, the physio told me. But we have not had a scan or something like that. It can be a tear in a capsule or something, but we just don’t know.
“We are going to talk to the doctors and see what we are going to do. I hope it is nothing serious and I can continue to build on something without further injuries.
“It seems that I can’t take a break this year. It has been a difficult year from a physical position. We just talked about it in the dressing room and the last time I played a tournament pain, the Australian was open.”

Despite the inconvenience, Zverev was able to get through the last game, thanks to strong portion and fast points.
“Fortunately I had a good serving day,” said the number 3 in the PIF ATP ranking. “The serve has brought me through that game. I don’t think running from lace would have helped me, but I didn’t play one [long] points to that game, so it was useful for me. ”
Zverev, 28, collected his 48th victory on the year according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index.
In the third round 2019, the Rolex Shanghai Masters finalist will want to avenge a loss of five set for the Frenchman Arthur Rindernech in Wimbledon earlier this year in their only Lexus ATP Head2head meeting.
