Zimbabwe will miss the services of their captain, Craig ErhineIn the ODI series of two games against Sri Lanka. The left -handed batter has sustained a calf tribe, leaving it out of the rubber.
Experienced Allrounder Sean Williams takes the lead as the stand-in captain for the series between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in the absence of Erhine. The latter rose the injury on the eve of the first ODI, which will be held on Friday 29 August in the Harare Sports Club in Harare.
An MRI scan confirmed that Erhine had encountered a tribe of degree II in its left calf, as well as a chronic and dissolving degree I voltage in its right -hand false.
The 40-year-old is one of the most experienced and reliable batters of Zimbabwe. However, he has missed quite a few competitions in recent years due to injuries. His most recent absence was during the test against Ireland in February 2025, because he was with paternity leave. Williams had also missed that test with a back injury, but both returned to the team for the at home in Bangladesh at home in April-May. His last ODI performance was against Ireland in that series.
So far has played 128 ODIs and scored 3600 points on an average of 33.03, including 23 fifties and four centuries. He also has the experience with playing 30 tests and 71 T20Is.
Brendan Taylor returns
Although Zimbabwe HEALTE will not have available, they are reinforced by the return of Brendan Taylor. The experienced seizure made a comeback to international cricket during the attraction against New Zealand after a three-year ban on corruption-related offenses.
The right-handed batter now returns to Odi Cricket after almost four years. He scored 6684 points of 205 ODIs with an average of 35.55. Taylor’s contribution will be crucial, especially in the absence of Erhine. Apart from Taylor, Zimbabwe will bank Raza’s all -round services against a talented Sri Lankan side on Sikandar.
