Fast trader Zepto has resumed his activities from his Dhaavi store after a detailed re-inspection by the Maharashtra branch of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The suspension was lifted after revising the Food Safety Commission and the FDA carried out a re -inspection of the facility and discovered that necessary corrective measures had been implemented.

The FDA has suspended the food business license of Kiranakart Technologies, the parent company of Zepto, after a surprise inspection of the Dharavi store on 31 May. The inspection revealed visible fungal growth on food products, incorrect cold storage, expired and fresh goods that were stored together and items stored on the dirty and wet floor.

“The Dharavi store of Zepto has resumed its activities. Zepto is dedicated to all necessary food safety standards prescribed by the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the applicable regulations,” the company said in its statement.

Last week the FDA carried out a similar inspection in a dark Blinkit store in Pune. The authorities discovered that the facility did not have the necessary certificates.

The episode was added to a series of challenges for the Fast Trade Startup, in which also the additional additional employees in Hyderabad have seen and a scale of his Zepto Café offer in several cities.
