Zara Anand leads experienced field at DLF-Poot van Held Wpgt

Zara Anand produced the best round of the day to keep the lead after 36 holes in the RS. 23 Lakh 13^one Place from the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour on the DLF Golf and Country Club on Wednesday.

The rising amateur, who will become a member of an American university on a golf fair later this year, shot a 2 under 7 to the total level par 144 after an opening 74 on Tuesday.

On day two, Zara had had five birdies to three bogeys, the WGAI said.

She was a shot for the night leader Lavanya Jadon (73-72), who had three Birdies on her map in the first three holes and three bogeys, all on the rear nine.

Zara, seventh in the Queen Sirikit Cup in Japan earlier this year, led the amateur brigade with four of them in the top 10.

Hunt on package

Former Hero Women’s Indian Open Runner-Up Amandep Drall added a 73 to her first round 74 to become third at 3 above 147, while Astha Madan (75-74) was fourth.

Amandeeep had two birdies, both at the front nine against three bogeys.

Astha opened with a birdie and a double bogey, and in the next 16 holes two birdies and `14 pars.

Promising young amateur Ananya Sood (76-74) and Kriti Chowhan (76-74) became in fifth place at 6 more than 150.

Vani Kapoor, who has four victories this season, struggled at her home course with cards of 75 and 76 to share seventh place with Jahaanvie Walia (76-75).

Gaurika Bishnoi (77-75) was bound next to amateurs Mannat Brar (76-76) and Lavanya Gupta (75-77) for tenth place.

The cut fell at 164 and left 31 players to play the final round.
