YouTube is rolling it out 2025 Recap for YouTube Music Subscriberswhich, like Spotify’s popular “Wrapped” annual reviews, provides an overview of what you’ve listened to in the app.
But this time, YouTube has added an extra special element.
That’s right, YouTube has added an AI query prompt to this year’s roundup so you can ask questions about your music and podcast listening habits all year long.
As you can see in these screenshots (posted by 9 to 5 Googling), YouTube Music users can now access an overview of the music they listened to in 2025, with a Stories-style summary of various trend notes.
And as you can see below the main list (in the first image above), there’s also an AI query option, so you can ask questions like “Which animal suits my music taste?” in-flow.
Yes, this is a viable option, as shown in the sample questions above, but you can also ask a conversational question about your listening habits.
That seems like an unnecessary use of AI, which probably won’t add anything to this summary. But if you want the system to “hype my listening using Gen Z jargon,” you can. If you want.
It feels a bit like overkill, like ‘we can, so we did’, without any real consideration of the value here, beyond it being just another AI feature. Since AI is the trend of the moment, and since everyone is hyped about AI, I suspect that building AI into every single thing will eventually turn people away from these options, especially with such weak sample cues.
But maybe I’m just old, and maybe this will prove to be a valuable addition for the younger audience, giving them new ways to interact with their annual YouTube Music recaps.
YouTube’s summary also lists your ‘musical best friend’, the artist you listened to the most all year (including a calendar view showing which days you listened to it), while there’s also a ‘Musical Passport’ element, showing where you were tuning in.

It’s an interesting overview of your year in music and podcasts, which could also highlight more about your own behavior and habits than you think.
YouTube’s 2025 Music Summary is now rolling out, with YouTube Music subscribers asked to view the summary in-stream, while you can also access it by tapping your profile avatar.
