“Unfortunately, I have to withdraw from my scheduled fight against Lorenzo Hunt at KM6 due to a very strong flu,” said a statement from Romero released via BKFC. “During my weight cut for the RAF I felt my immune system was low and I felt very weak. A few days after my January 10th RAF match I started having severe flu symptoms.“I am extremely disappointed but I have not been able to train and I have to make my health a priority. I look forward to returning to action at a later date against Lorenzo Hunt, which BKFC is already working on.”
Romero competed twice in the RAF in recent weeks, beating Pat Downey on December 20 before losing to Stephen Buchanan on January 10. Romero made his first BKFC outing on September 12, defeating Theo Doukas in the second stanza at BKFC 80. “The Soldier of God” has also picked up a pair of victories under the Dirty Boxing banner.
hunt vs. Mundell will serve as the co-main event for BKFC Knucklemania 6, which takes place on February 7 at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. The card is headlined by a heavyweight title match between Ben Rothwell and Andrei Arlovski.
