Yoane Wissa has just released a statement from Sunday morning asking to leave Brentford for Newcastle.

The 28-year-old claims that the bees have not honored their promise to let him leave this summer for a reasonable price, even saying that he had this “in writing” after discussions about his future earlier in the window.

Newcastle recently had an £ 40 million offer for the Dr. Congo star rejected, with reports this morning that suggest that Brentford demands no less than £ 65 million if he has to leave for the Deadline of Tonorrow.

Wissa has urged the club to respect their earlier agreement and to allow him, with his long Instagram statement perhaps his last role of the dice in an attempt to push through a movement.

Read his statement full below:

“In recent weeks there has been an increased speculation about my future at Brentford Football Club. As a result, I wanted to speak immediately and honestly about exactly where things stand.

“I have stopped for a large part of the summer, but with only hours of the transfer window I feel forced to make me leave Brentford. I believe that the club will stand in my way all summer despite a series of honest offers.

“I have always given 100 percent for Brentford since the day I had signed in 2021. I am proud of what we built together and I have never seized the opportunity to play for the club for the club.

“Brentford fans will always have a special place in my heart. And I have always worn myself professionally, both on and outside the field. It was a privilege to wear this shirt for 149 competitions and 49 goals.

“Earlier this summer I held open discussions with the senior management of the club, including important directors and the new head coach. I made my intention clear to explore a new challenge.

“During these conversations, I and my representatives were confirmed that the club would not stand in my way if a reasonable offer was received. This was also placed in writing.

“Based on this concept, I wanted to find a new club, while I kept Brentford fully informed with full transparency at every step.

“Brentford received a formal offer from another Premier League club and I then communicated that I wanted to participate. I had the impression, from all my conversations with Brentford, that there was a mutual agreement to separate.

“But when the window ends, the club has now changed its position considerably, called in against what was communicated. This has left me in a difficult and frustrating position. The dedication that I could leave this summer is not fulfilled. It is sad to have to write that and I maintain the total respect for the club and the fans.

“I want to make it clear that I have not acted unprofessionally, nor do I want to leave Brentford on bad conditions. I have been transparent everywhere in my position. I openly continued to communicate with the club and behave in a way that reflects my values as both a football player and a person.

“I remain hopeful that a fair and reasonable resolution can still be found before the transfer window closes.

“In the meantime, I have to do what I think is good for my career and family and insist that Brentford Honor is holding their word to be joined at a new club and at a fair price.

“I want to thank all Brentford fans for their support and understanding during this difficult situation. Your energy and belief in me has always meant a lot. This has never been to run away from what a fantastic football club is. It’s about going through Brentford’s blessing based on a repeated dedication that I could leave for a new chapter this summer.

“Made to stay further than this summer, will only affect four wonderful years in this incredible club and so I ask the owners and directors of Brentford to keep their word now to let me leave in the last hours of the window.”
