MILTON, October 25, 2025 – Todd McCarthy accompanied Yo Tillie (Tactical landing) into the lead down the backstretch and stayed on top the rest of the way en route to a one-length victory over Stormont Beautiful in 1:51.3 in Saturday’s $664,500 (USD) Grade 1 Breeders Crown harness racing final for 3-year-old trotting fillies at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Monalishi narrowly edges Delaney Hanover for third place.
The win was the second in a Breeders Crown final for McCarthy and the first for trainer Andrew Harris, who shares ownership of Yo Tillie with Bill Pollock and Bruce Areman. The daughter of Tactical Landing-Consolidator was bred by GBW Breeding Farms and Black Creek Farm.
“It’s just amazing to have a filly like that and to see her almost perfect all season and never let me down,” Harris said. “I’m just blessed to have a filly like this, and I just want to thank Bill and Billy, Karen and Bruce for supporting me with a filly like this because it’s amazing.
“You know, they’ve been a huge support to me, and they’ve obviously bought me some really nice horses, so it’s nice to be able to perform for them on the big stage and make it happen.”
Areman said, “It’s special. We started this about three years ago with Abuckabett Hanover and we’ve kind of gotten into the babies, and there’s ups and downs, and we’re learning as we go. But to get this filly here has just been incredible for us, and we love her so much. You don’t know, it’s a good group, a strong group, so you hope for the best. Todd just gave her a beautiful journey and she kept going. They had a lot of courage. So it was fun to watch.
“I think this is the start of something big. We have big ambitions for where we want to go in this industry. And I think in many ways this is the start of it.”
Walspea and driver Doug McNair took the lead in an opening quarter of:26.4, with Yo Tillie third. R Dutchess and driver Tim Tetrick moved into the lead from second, but her time at the front was short-lived as McCarthy led Yo Tillie to the front en route to a half of :56.2. She reached three-quarters in 1:24, holding off the $72,000 (USD supplement) Stormont Beautiful piloted by Bob McClure as she tried to rally from the back of the field.
YO TILLIE REPLAY
“I just wanted to get a little close to her,” McCarthy said. “She’s so talented that she can make her own luck there. That was just a great way to end the year for her. She’s been so good all year, and credit to Andrew for the job he’s done managing her here. That was pretty amazing.”
“She doesn’t mind when a horse gets close to her. She likes to fend them off, but I don’t necessarily like that that much. It makes me a little nervous, but I just have so much confidence in her, and I just keep talking to her on the wire there, and she just keeps digging.”
Yo Tillie has 11 wins and a second in 12 races this year. During her career, she has recorded 19 wins in 24 starts, with $1.2 million (USD) in purses.
Yo Tillie was sent off as the 6-5 favorite and paid $4.40 to win.
