Little to do with Golf, this has.
A bit geeky, this is.
But did you catch what was behind Jon Rahm’s shoulders when he was picked for this year’s European Ryder Cup team? Announcer Nick Dougherty had seen it before Rahm came to the Sky Sports broadcast on Monday and wondered when Rahm’s time ended in the show.
“Is that a baby Yoda who is behind your head there?”
Rahm then went to the right and laughed. It was, although the Yoda speaks in the first two paragraphs of this story that may have given away.
There are of course a few questions here.
First, who is Baby Yoda? He is one of the fictional stars of the Disney Plus show “The Mandalorian,” And he will shine in it a movie Next year. His real name is Grogu. (Yes, the author has looked at the show.) So why is his name his Baby Yoda? That’s because he seems to be young and he shows a similarity with Yoda, one of the fictional stars of the films “Star Wars”. (Yes, the author has watched all the films.)
Okay, so how did Rahm answer Dougherty’s question?
Proud. He explained what was behind him. There were other photos. But Baby Yoda, depicted by a painting, was at the front and in the middle.
“A bit of a Star Wars fan here at the office,” said Rahm.
“And there is not completely 6-foot Darth Vader, but it can or may not be in the corner of the room.”
Real? How many of a “Star Wars” fan is Rahm?
In a press conference after the announcement of television, an inquiring spirit wanted to know.
“Not as much as you would think,” said Rahm, “but I have a Darth father a bit away behind the computer screen, but it’s there.
“I started when I was young. Unlike many of the fans, because I was young enough, but at the same time old enough to see it, my first introduction to ‘Star Wars’ was the ‘Phantom Menace’, which may not be the best way to go inside for the hard nuclear fans.
āBut I was young, and seeing the second trilogy, episodes 1 to 3 and the Light Saber fighting and all this before I understood that it got me in, anyway.
āOne of the characters who, perhaps not the most fun like a child, it was my favorite, Jar Jar Binks. So it’s how I got in, anyway. I was a child and that character is actually very, very nice.
āIt was actually during Covid, Kelley [his wife] Had never seen the film and I let her look at her. And we have viewed the newest trilogy that Disney brought together and I received a new appreciation for the original trilogy. But it is clear that I will always be a bit biased against the second because it brought me in. “
