Aaron Judge Has been hampered by a FlexorTam in recent weeks. He first spent a minimal stint on the wounded list to let his distressed elbow rest, and since he returned he is limited to exclusive DH work. Earlier this week, a few questions were asked about exactly what form Judge will be able to get his good -hearted back before the end of the year. Fortunately, all the worries about the assets of the judge seem to be on hold for the time being when the judge started throwing the Outfield to the bases today during Pregame training courses.
The reigning AL MVP told reporters (including Mlb.com’s Bryan Hoch) Today that was about “Check a box” In his rehabilitation and that he is purely sticking to what the team’s trainers tell him to do while he works back in the state to resume the regular tasks in the outfield. Manager Aaron BooneMeanwhile, reporters told (including The Athletic’s Brendan Kuty) that while judge “Looked good” Go to second base today, there is still no time schedule for his return to the grass in a game environment. Boone emphasized that the club considers it important to slowly assume the recovery process of the judge to prevent again in the frondance.
That of course makes sense how important Judge’s 196 WRC+ BAT is for the Line -up. Judge’s .218/.386/.418 (126 WRC+) Slash line Since returning from the IL on 5 August, it is not as robust as its usual aliens, but it is still a wide above -average production that would be happy with almost every other batter in the sport. In the meantime, Giancarlo Stanton started playing in the right field as a temporary solution to get his bat in the line -up, while Judge occupies the DH slot.
Stanton’s return to the Outfield is not the only commotion of the Yankees -Line -Up in recent days. Shortstop Anthony Volpe Has had a difficult year on both sides of the ball, and today Boone made the decision to let him out of the starting line -up of the club with Deadline addition Jose Caballero Starting at short stop in his place. Boone was without obligation before the competition (as noted by Greg Joyce of the New York Post) About when Volpe would return to the starting line -up, but he was used as a defense of tonight’s game against the Red Sox. After a four-hit version on August 1, Volpe hit a meager .121/.171/.242 in his last 19 games and was accused of a fault in last night’s game. That was enough for the Yankees to decide that they mix at least a while, but Volpe suggested after the game for reporters (including Toys) that he will be back in the line -up for Tuesday’s match against the Nationals after having disappeared.
For now it seems that this time from the line -up is just a chance for full to reset in the midst of a tough rack, both on the plate and in the field. That said, it is at least possible that the Yankees Caballero could get a little more playing time. Since he came over during the Rays Trade Deadline, Caballero .320/.433/.600 in 31 record performances reduced in 14 races with the organization. Although Caballero is generally considered an under-average batter in general, that recent hot streak in combination with his reasonably well-claimed glove and impressive speed on the Basepaths can be sufficient to earn a little more playing time, especially if the struggle of Volpe continues.
On the pitching side of things, Hoch -reports that the Yankees are ready to get some reinforcements tomorrow when they are right -handed Fernando Cruz is activated from the injured list. Cruz has been sidelined for almost two months because of a sloping trunk, but the 35-year-old had nothing less than excellent in the first half of the season with an ERA of 3.00, 2.48 FIP and a striking 41.2% strikeout speed in 33 innings work prior to the injury. If Cruz looks like this on his return, he should be a huge asset for a Bullpen by Yankees who struggled somewhat despite the aggressive addition of reinforcements to this summer’s trade deadline.
