Yankees’ Max Fried after the last rough start: ‘Must change something’

St. Louis – The Yankees won the fight on Saturday evening, but they can lose the war if Max Fried keeps pitching.

The left-handed one turned a rough start in an eight-game piece of them, although his attack picked him up for what was a 12-8 victory over the cardinals in Busch Stadium.

Fried was tagged for seven runs on eight hits in more than five innings and continued a relevant trend for the pitcher who often dominated as the Yankees-Aas during the first three months of the season.

“I definitely have to change something and change it quickly,” Fried said.

After throwing seven innings of one-run ball on 25 June in Cincinnati, Fried had an ERA from 1.92 to 17 starts.

Since then he has been beaten in eight starting on the melody of an ERA of 6.80, who looked small as the pitcher he was most of the first half.

“Just not being sharp,” said Fried, who fought a blister in July, but Saturday stood that he is now completely healthy. “I didn’t have the good results yet. When you had to go there and have good trips, I couldn’t do that. I work hard in between to try to make the best adjustments I can. They have not really shown, but we are here to win games. Really happy that they have set up 12 runs to cover me. But I have to be much better.”

After giving up a three-run shot to Masyn Win in the second inning, Fried found a groove in which he retired 11 out of 12 where the Yankees hope he can build on a sour note when he gave up a two-run shot to Nolan Gorman in the sixth inning.

Walks have been a problem for Fried during this piece, although he only spent one on Saturday while he hit six (including his 1,000th career -strikeout).

But the Yankees need him to completely click this funk when they go where they want to go.

“Even the pitchers at the elite level sometimes go through these kinds of things,” said Aaron Boone manager. “He will come there. He will get through it. There is nothing wrong with him. Physically he is in a good place, there is things. It is just a different level of implementation. You go through it a bit, so you fight mentally against yourself. He is too good not to get through it. “
