Yankees’ Anthony Volpe blooms since Cortisone shot in the left shoulder

The season of Anthony Volpe – and really the big league career – is built on stripes, the cold that usually lasts longer than the hot.

So maybe in the last 10 days nothing more than a hot streak that is followed by a cheeky cold.

But since the return of a cortisone injection in his left shoulder to help treat the persistent effects of a partially torn Labrum, the Yankees -Short stop looks more like his best version while he returns a hold on his starting task.

Shortly before Volpe missed for almost a week – not available or limited for four games while recovering the shot and then simply in favor of José Caballero for another competition on both sides – there were questions if Caballero would take over it at ShortStop.

Volpe had an extensive piece on the record and shaken in the field and the situation seemed to be a breaking point.

But then Volpe received some physical lighting for the injury he has passed on since May, and in nine games since up to and including Friday he hit .313 (10-out-32) with a .759 Ops while playing clean defense.

“It feels like you can play and do what you are trying to do,” said Volpe before he went 1-out-4 in an 8-4 victory over the Orioles, an game in which he was robbed of extra bases on a flying ball to the gorge and also flew to the warning job in the middle. “We are here for hours before the game and you can virtually test and see where you are every day. It just feels good to feel that you are going all the way to the game instead of doing things that do not necessarily have the feeling that it helps.”

Anthony Volpe, who has recently played better since he received a Cortisone shot on his left shoulder, is thrown away in a rundown after trying to steal at home in the sixth inning of the 8-4 victory of the Yankees over the Orioles on September 26, 2025. Robert Sabo for New York Post

Volpe started for the seventh time in the last eight games on Shortstop Friday and the eighth in the last 10, which means that part of the sound that had surrounded him, at least surrounded for the time being – although not much is needed for fans to turn on the player who had become a lightning rod.

“I think he is playing well,” said Aaron Boone manager. “I think really defensively, he is located in the past month or so or even longer where he plays aggressively, he attacks the ball. I feel that he is in a good place, looks like Anthony.

“Offensing I feel the last – maybe since he is back … he is night in a night out [had] Really competitive percussions. Even [Thursday] night, doesn’t get a hit, but I felt like the perches [were] competitive. He gave us a bit of a presence to the bottom of the line -up. “

The Yankees believe that the best version of their team Volpe comprises from shortstop and effective play on both sides of the Bal-where Caballero comes from the bank as the ultimate Pinch-Running threat that helps with his defensive versatility.

If Volpe can maintain what he has shown last week-plus, it becomes more realistic on the way to the late season.

“We have to keep going there and doing it,” said Boone. “I now have a lot of faith in him. I feel that he is playing well. He is a large part of us and our success is moving forward.”

During the worst struggles of Volpe this season, the Yankees pointed to his play-off run last season when he consistently put together some of the best battles of someone in the line-up. Whether he can repeat that level of success in October is still to be seen, although he seems to have given himself a chance with a physical (and perhaps mental) reset in mid -September.

‘There is so much that is so different [this year]”Said Volpe.” You will be present in the moment and so. … But at the same time, you feel where you are, you have the feeling that you are trending in the right direction. It feels good at the right time. “
