XXIO 14 pushes lightweight technology, the first adjustable driver

The lightweight golf club segment is one of the fastest growing segments in golf clubs, with more and more OEMs offering lighter options to help players increase speed and launch.

XXIO has long been a leader in that field and today they unveil their latest XXIO 14 line, packed with innovation for golfers who don’t swing them fast (or not as fast as they used to).

“XXIO 14 represents a real shift in where we are going with this brand,” XXIO Vice President Chuck Thiry said in a press release. “We’ve gone beyond incremental improvements to deliver something completely new, making it easier than ever for women and seniors to swing faster, hit straighter and enjoy the game even more.”

Keep reading below to learn more about the XXIO 14 line driverswoods, hybrids and irons.

What’s new at XXIO 14?

The heart of the entire XXIO 14 line is formed by new Ultiflex faces. In the forest it’s all about a new material: VR-Titanium.

XXIO says the VR Titanium is stronger, thinner and more durable than previous materials and increases ball speed with minimal effort.

The wood also features ActivWing technology and a new High-Grip Milled Pattern on the heel, which helps control dispersion on off-center hits.

Finally, for the first time in XXIO history, the driver features an adjustable 1.5˚ loft sleeve, allowing players to fine-tune launch and spin characteristics and giving mechanics a new lever to help a player find the best driver for their games.

Ultiflex is also present in the irons, using titanium faces to save weight and repositioning the bearing with high-density tungsten, naturally launching the ball higher.

There’s also a newly designed L-Groove that sits lower on the face and increases flexibility for extra ball speed on low hits.

In addition to the XXIO 14 men’s line, there is a XXIO Women’s, which has round shapes and is optimized for lower swing speeds.

Finally, there is also a new XXIO 14+ line, with the same technology as the standard XXIO 14 line, but optimized for faster (150-160 km/h) swing speeds. XXIO 14+ woods have a matte finish and darker faces and the irons have a V-sole for improved interaction with the surface.

The entire XXIO brand is built around helping slower swing speed players or older golfers who have lost a little with their fastball. For players looking for a little extra help with launch speed, the new XXIO 14 line makes for a great fit.

XXIO clubs are also biased towards helping players get a piece of the fight.

The new XXIO 14+ line will appeal to players who don’t have much speed, but may struggle to get the ball in the air.

My thoughts

Very often the clubs in the lightweight space are an afterthought and end up as watered down versions of the top products. But at XXIO, the entire brand identity is about helping players with slower swing speeds who need these lighter clubs.

This is clearly visible in their latest club series.

Finally, players looking for ultra-lightweight club heads have a driver option with an adjustable Hosel, making it easier than ever to find the perfect XXIO driver. That will only add to the number of players who will benefit from a premium-oriented ultra-light club.
