Sports will undoubtedly take over our TV time in February with the Super Bowlthe Winter Games Milan-Cortina, and the NBA All-Star Game. If you’re an Xfinity TV customer, you can watch the Winter Olympics with features like Real-time 4KFan View and customizable Multiview displays. Comcast announced its new set of Olympic features on Friday, including an AI-powered DVR feature.

CNET previewed the Olympics experience and the AI-assisted DVR feature stood out for its convenience. When you record something, AI identifies the most important parts, which appear as highlights on the screen. As an example, I looked at a display of an opening ceremony and the markers were labeled with descriptions like “Team USA enters” to indicate what was going on.

“What we’ve done is we’ve used AI to tag the key moments of the opening ceremony so you can get to them quickly and easily without having to sort through them,” said Vito Forlenza, vice president of sports entertainment at Comcast. He added that it gives viewers control over what they watch.

Like its sister brand, Peacock, Xfinity aims to create immersive and personalized viewing experiences for fans of the Winter Games, which begin broadcasting on February 6. A thematic homepage puts everything surrounding Milan Cortina at the forefront, where viewers can choose to click on tiles for live Olympic events on NBC, Peacock, USA and CNBC, or delve into content such as highlights. The main home screen also includes a tab for the Olympic Hub, which can be launched with a click or by speaking into your Xfinity voice remote.

Within the hub is a dedicated queue for Peacock programming, as well as access to Multiview, medal counts, highlights and the Fan View feature. You may already be familiar with Fan View, as it rolled out for NBA and NFL games last year. Use it to choose your favorite sports and stay up to date with the latest statistics, medal wins and programming. With its immersive visuals, this feature can also take you to Olympic snow parks for bobsledding, skiing and snowboarding, so you almost feel like you’re there.

The medal count breakout section will be updated regularly throughout the games. Fan View also has shortcuts that take you to live broadcasts, Multiview or highlights. You can watch short video highlights and other TikTok-style content.

Instead of relying on a pre-selected screen for Multiview, viewers can customize what they want to see like a do-it-yourselfer. If you want all four screens to show the Olympics, you can. Or you can choose from other live sports, such as basketball, the NFL, And Olympic figure skating.

Do you want to see better? Enlarge one game on the Multiview screen while the other three screens are intact. Those who prefer not to leave Multiview can still open Fan View to browse stats or go to Comcast affiliate sports betting sites (if it’s legal where they live).

The RealTime 4K addition announced for the Super Bowl will also be available for the Olympics, complemented by Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. And on game day, a Peacock 4K feed will be embedded in the channel guide, switching from Olympic coverage to the Super Bowl when it’s time. All Xfinity customers can view the feed.
