Real lost 1-0 to Liverpool at Anfield in this week’s big Champions League match, with Alexis Mac Allister scoring the winner in an impressive performance against Alonso’s side.
It now appears the Spanish tactician is keen to add the Argentina international to his squad in what appears to be a problem position at the Bernabeu.
That’s according to Transferswho note that Madrid previously wanted Martin Zubimendi before he joined Arsenal, while his attention has now shifted to Mac Allister, Enzo Fernandez, Adam Wharton and Vitinha.
Can Real Madrid sign Alexis Mac Allister from Liverpool?
Mac Allister has been a key player for Liverpool, so it certainly won’t be easy for Los Blancos to convince the Reds to sell.
However, the 26-year-old seems to be an ideal fit for this Madrid team, as Alonso lacks someone who can dictate play in the middle of the park.
LFC fans will no doubt be hoping that Mac Allister stays and continues to play a role in the team’s success, as it would be very painful to lose another big name to Real following the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer.
Who would be the ideal midfielder for Real Madrid?
Fernandez, Wharton and Vitinha also seem to have an important role to play alongside Alonso, so who would be best for this job?
Looking at the image below from DataMB, it looks like Vitinha is by far the best player on the list in terms of his creativity and especially his passing…

But given that Vitinha is a key player for PSG, he may not be the most realistic target, while someone like Wharton will certainly be looking to make a big move away from Crystal Palace in the foreseeable future.
However, Mac Allister has the best defensive qualities and so perhaps makes the most sense as an ideal all-rounder for that role.
