It looks like X is developing a new program to amplify some of the top posts in the app, with a new one Profile “Bangers”. launched late last month.
X’s head of product Nikita Bier posted about the new project last week and asked if anyone had done it yet Haven’t seen any good bangers latelywith a link to the profile.
We don’t yet know what exactly “Bangers” will be, but it is likely that X will use this profile to highlight the top posts in the app, as highlighted by X’s involvement and/or own team.
That could drive awareness of these posts, while X could also look to use this as part of its creator monetization plan, potentially offering bonus payments to those selected for the Banger account.
Will that make more people more interested in X updates?
Well, it can’t hurt.
TikTok has fundamentally changed the paradigm in this regard, as it is less focused on who you follow and more driven by what drives engagement in the app. That means that instead of being limited to the top posts in your managed network, TikTok can show everyone the best posts from across the app every day in the For You feed, giving top creators more exposure and driving usage.
