England number 1 Tin-Tin Ho has a wildcard into the main draw as she returns to international competition at the WTT Contender Muscat, which starts today.
Today’s women’s singles group stage will be followed by a qualifying round tomorrow, with Ho (WR 222) not due to play until Wednesday.
Every player seeded directly into the main draw will be ranked in the top 75 in the world, including Wales’ Anna Hursey (WR 45). The top seed is Shi Xunyao from China (WR 13).
Ho is guaranteed four world ranking points, but a first-round win will upgrade that to 30, crucial for entry into future competitions.
Ho is competing in the women’s doubles with Tatiana Kukulkova of Slovakia and they are the top-ranked duo in the qualifying round. They will face Hong Kong’s Zhu Chengzhu and Su Tsz Tung, with the winners taking their places in the round of 16.

Hursey will be competing alongside Germany’s Nina Mittelham – they will face Egypt’s Dina Meshref and Yousra Helmy for a place in the main draw, also on Tuesday at 1pm.
