The last time the WTA Top 10 featured two teenagers was in 2009, when Victoria Azarenka and Caroline Wozniacki achieved the feat. Now, as of February 16, 2026, Russian 18-year-old Mirra Andreeva is at number 7 and Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko is at number 10.

This is Mboko’s first appearance in the elite group, as she becomes the fourth Canadian to break into the Top 10, following Carling Bassett-Seguso, Eugenie Bouchard and, most recently, Bianca Andreescu.

The achievement comes after a string of successes for the young athlete, whose breakthrough came at last year’s Montreal WTA 1000, where she captured her first title. She ended the season with another trophy at the WTA 250 Prudential Hong Kong Open, and her momentum has continued into 2026. Just a month and a half into the new season, she has already reached the finals in both Adelaide and Doha.

As for Andreeva, the teenager had entered the Top 10 as a 17-year-old, following her title run at the 2025 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. In July 2025, she reached a career-high of No. 5.

Away from the teenage power, Aryna Sabalenka remains firmly at the top of the WTA rankings despite skipping the Qatar TotalEnergies Open. With both Iga Swaatek And Elena Rybakina Coming out of the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, the world number 1 saw her lead remain intact and she now has a 3,067 points lead over Swiatek. Sabalenka has spent 70 consecutive weeks at No. 1 and 78 overall, putting her most weeks at the top at 11th on the all-time list.

However, the battle for second place is intensifying. Rybakina is now just 280 points behind Swiatek and could overtake the Pole with a semi-final at this week’s Dubai Tennis Championships.

There was movement elsewhere in the Top 10, with last year’s Doha champion Amanda Anisimova suffered an early exit in the second round and dropped two places. She is now the US number 3, after being overtaken by both Coco Gauff And Jessica Pegula. Ekaterina Alexandrova left the Top 10 after dropping two places.

Karolina Muchovathe 2023 French Open runner-up, claimed the biggest title of her career this weekend in Doha, earning an eight-place jump to No. 11, just three spots shy of her career-high ranking.
