I am happy to announce that Maral Usefi Is assumed as our new main video for the Wall Street Journal. Maral is a award -winning journalist, producer and creative director who recently comes to us from Vice Media, where she almost spent a decade in different roles, including director, producer and VP of news and editorial operations. Earlier she was a senior producer at Al Jazeera America, CNN, Fox News and has experience in developing and running short and long content, documentaries and series.
Video plays a crucial role in our stories and how we provide our most public-first strategy between formats, and Maral’s expert leadership of the team will be crucial in this next chapter. She joins us on 8 September.

I am also happy to share that Katherine Finnery has been named our new head of live journalism. Katherine has been the deputy editor of Live Journalism in the Journal, leading content strategy and editorial direction for WSJ events, including Tech Live and the future of everything since 2021. During that time she has proven herself an inspiring innovator who also holds a cool head in every situation.
The Live Journalism Team is a leadership for the wider WSJ -Newsroom – bringing the familiar relationships, journalistic strictness and excellence in stories to our phases around the world. Our events will only become more important if we race between the age of AI, and Katherine’s stewardship of the team brings us in good shape to bring our journalism to life.
