Harmanpreet has been involved with the WPL since its inception in 2023. She has already led Mumbai Indians to two WPL titles, one in 2023 and the other in 2025.
“The WPL has given us a different kind of exposure. When you play in an environment where every game matters and every team is competitive, it automatically builds a winning mentality. Mumbai Indians in particular have always focused on excellence and that reflects on you as a player and as a leader,” Harmanpreet said at a press conference.
Claiming that the city of Mumbai holds a special place in her heart, Harmanpreet explained how it has had a positive impact on her career.
“Mumbai feels special to me. The energy of the city and the support you get here makes a big difference. It’s a place where I’ve always felt comfortable, and that helps you express yourself freely on the field,” said Harmanpreet.
What strikes me is the family atmosphere: Harmanpreet about playing for MI
Harmanpreet praised the atmosphere in the MI camp and said the support from the management and coaching staff helps players express themselves.
“What stands out to me is the family atmosphere. When players feel supported by the management and coaching staff, they play without fear. That trust and support is crucial, especially in high-pressure tournaments like the WPL,” said the Punjab-born player.
Defending champions Mumbai will begin their WPL 2026 campaign on Friday, January 9, as they take on Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
