The Works Ministry (KKR) has announced that the Myjalan application of its scope will be expanded as a public complaint platform for reporting traffic damage in an extensive national database for traffic infrastructure management in Malaysia, AS Declared Reports.
According to working minister thatuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, the move is aimed at tackling the critical challenge that there are no standardized and holistic data in current road management systems, with the idea that an integrated approach would make better coordination of road maintenance possible.
He said that extensive data could make a more accurate and more efficient maintenance intervention in all road networks. “With structured and extensive data we can only plan how we can ensure that weigh, regardless of which desk they fall, are safe and comfortable for all road users,” he said.
Currently, federal roads are under KKR-Jurisdiction, and those who are not included are municipal, village, agricultural, national and private roads by local councils, the Ministry of Housing and the Local Government (KPKT), the national and regional development minister (KKDW) and national governments.
As mentioned earlier, since the launch of the app in August 2023, a total of 40,938 road-related complaints from 54,330 users from July 31 of this year, federal roads were good for 30.4% of these complaints, while the state-judged and other roads existed the remaining 69.6%.
Working on that expansion, the ministry held an engagement session, which brought together various stakeholders, including federal ministries and agencies, government agencies in Sabah and Sarawak, State Secretary, Land and Mijnen offices, local authorities and concession companies.
Nanta said that the dialogue received positive feedback from all state governments and representatives of the local authority present during the session. He said that extra engagement sessions will be performed to refine the implementation of the system before it is presented to the cabinet at the end of the year.
