The Minnesota Timberwolves are riding a four-game win streak as they prepare for their second straight game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday at 6:30 PM CT. However, both sides have significant injuries that could affect the game.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at a full injury report for both sides.
2/1 Timberwolves vs. Grizzlies injury report
- Anthony Edwards (back) – Questionable
- Julius Randle (thumb) – Questionable
- Terrence Shannon Jr. (Foot) – OFF
Both Timberwolves stars are in uncertain status ahead of Monday’s game. Edwards injured his back during Saturday’s game against Memphis. While Edwards played through the entire injury after the game, he played admitted it bothered him. It’s unclear when Randle’s thumb injury occurred, but if he misses tonight’s game, it will be his first game missed this season.
If Edwards and/or Randle are absent from Monday’s game, that will obviously change things for the Wolves. Minnesota is 6-4 this season without Edwards, but one of those losses came against Memphis. Additionally, whether or not Randle is 100 percent out would complicate matters.
Either way, it’s fair to expect Jaden McDaniels to play a bigger role than usual. He scored 20 points against the Grizzlies on Saturday, and even if Edwards and Randle play, McDaniels could get stronger offensively.
Outside of Edwards and Randle, Terrence Shannon Jr. remains. out with a foot injury. The second-year winger has not played since Christmas Day and it is unclear when he will return.
2/1 Grizzlies vs. Timberwolves injury report
- Jaren Jackson Jr. (Quad) – Doubtful
- Yes Morant (elbow) – OUT
- Feel Aldamma (knee) – OFF
- Brandon Clarke (calf) – OUT
- Zach Edey (Ankle) – OUT
- John Konchar (neck) – OUT
- Scotty Pippen Jr. (toe) – OFF
As usual for the Grizzlies in recent years, their injury report is lengthy. Luckily for them, Jaren Jackson Jr.’s quad injury has been resolved. has not been a long-term ailment. He only missed Saturday’s game and could be on the verge of making a return tonight.
If Jackson returns and the Wolves are missing one or both of their best players, this game suddenly becomes more challenging for Minnesota.
Ja Morant has been struggling with an elbow injury since January 21 and is only returning at least next weekend. While the Grizzlies wanted to acquire Morant before the trade deadline, his injury history makes a trade unlikely.
Zach Edey’s absence was also notable; he hasn’t played since early December and won’t be active until mid-February at the earliest. Scotty Pippen Jr. has been out for the entire season, but he should be nearing a return soon.
