During the low season we will perform a series called Forgotten Wolves Friday. A former player in Minnesota will be emphasized who may have been forgotten more and more as the years have passed since their gaming career has ended. This is especially true for the younger generation that was not there to see these boys play.

The forgotten wolves of today Friday is Antoine Walker. These forgotten wolves Friday is a bit different than the previous one, because although Walker is still a fairly famous former player, many do not remember his time with Minnesota.

Antoine Walker spent his last season with the Timberwolves

Born on August 12, 1976, many can forget (or not remember) that Walker’s last season in the NBA was with the Timberwolves in 2007-08. He was traded to Minnesota late in 2007 by the heat.

In what his 12th NBA season was, Walker was 31 years old when he became a member of the Timberwolves. It was not a good season for the team, because they only went 22-60 under head coach Randy Wittman, and it was not a banner year for Walker.

The 6-foot-9 Power Forward appeared in 46 competitions (one start) for the Timberwolves in his a year as a member of the team. Walker played 19.4 minutes per game and placed averages of 8.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists. Those were career-loage for the 12-year-old veteran across the board.

There were occasions where Vintage Walker would appear. Three times he dropped more than 20 points on January 15, including seasonal heights of 26 points and 10 rebounds against the Warriors. In general, however, it was a very inefficient season of Walker, as evidenced by his shooting percentage splits of 36.3/32.4/53.0.

Hoping for a buy -out that never came, Walker did not appear in the last 30 games of the Wolves. He was traded to the Grizzlies for the next low season, but was abandoned prior to the beginning of the year.

Walker is most remembered with Celtics

Of course, when people are asked when they remember the most Walker during his NBA career, this would be from his term of office at the Celtics. Boston selected him sixth in general in the 1996 NBA design from Kentucky. He played his first seven seasons with them, was named three All-Star Teams, on average five times more than 20 points and recorded 13 Triple-Doubles. He was even on the cover of the video game NBA Live 99.

Walker also played for the Mavericks, Hawks and Heat during his NBA career. He was the starting power during the Play -Off Run in Miami’s 2006 Championship team.
