WNCL: South -Australia vs Tasmania – De Groene Machine starts

And so we returned to Karen Rolton Oval for the second WCNL match between South Australia and Tasmania, where the circumstances could not have been different than Friday’s. Bright warm sunshine made way to cloudy gray mizzle, classical cricket weather in the early season. The game was delayed by half an hour, while referees, both soil staff and players waited until the circumstances brightened up. The South Australian leader Jemma Barsby won the throw again and decided to hit first, with both parties who unchanged parties from the Friday match.

The contrast in the weather also reflected the contrast in Sa’s Batting -Innings from Friday – with the side struggling from the very first ball. The glorious in-swinger of Nic Carey got the bail of the Wicket of Emma de Broughe and left the batter stunned while she immediately walked to the pavilion. Then, against the fourth about colleague opener, Bridget Patterson had been tempted to increase a shot to Gibson Fielding halfway. Every hope that Penna and Webb would fill the Run -Leegte on this point was superfluous by the next, with Penna again falling into a fall that Carey was set for her second wicket.

The bowling of Carey remained cunning during the innings and also claimed the Wicket of Friday of the Courtney Webb game for 14 with a shorter delivery. At this point, SA was still in the PowerPlay, but struggled seriously at 36/4. Excellent captain by Elyse Villani of Tasmania held the South Australian batters among wraps, with the next wicket caused by a change in bowling, Larosa caught on the center of Gibson’s Ball.

South -Australia continued to mill a few runs, with the highlight Ellie Johnston’s 63 of 82 balls by Ellie Johnston. She and Barsby have passed and broken down a long part of tight bowling from Tasmania, only able to choose the field for the strange precious border. Johnston brought her 50 up with a stylish 6 about lids of bowling Kathryn Bryce just before the second drinks. She seemed to find her pass, but as often the way is bent by Carey the next ball after she successfully drank through the border.

Carey was now on 4 wickets, but was denied her 5-fer by a combative Amanda Jade Wellington who hit her 6 and 4 in Carey’s tenth. Wellington’s aggressive cameo of 20 points ended up with her run at the end of the non-strikers, after haunting runs at the back of the innings. The tail fell cheap and left South Australia on 196. Carey was the choice of bowlers with 4-48 after 10 overs, but an honorable mention of Bryce’s 1-35 discount on its 10 overs, an economy rate that certainly helped to keep the total limited.

By the time that Tasmania’s inning started, Karen Rolon Oval bathed in a warm afternoon sun. With the drying out of the outfield it seemed that boundaries would be easier – but that turned out not to be the case. Openers Lizelle Lee and Rachel Trenaman, not rushed by the Chaspable Totaal, held the scoreboard to tap – but the boundaries were difficult to win in the very early stages. Towards the seventh, however, the outfield and both Trenaman and Lee had the size of the new ball and Sa’s opening Bowlers Courtney Neale and Ella Wilson.

But never count SA, especially with a bowling attack with Amanda-Jade Wellington, now skilled by Isabella Malgioglio. Between them the running speed was brought down and in the 15th over Wellington influenced a breakthrough with Lee that collected for a great running catch of Penna, followed by Carey for a duck. Villani worked to support Trenaman while the life of Adelaide literally flew by (a helicopter immersed the oval on the way to the adjacent hospital). But the temptation to hit the runs with a fast rate saw Villani go a border in the air, but instead find opposite captain Jemma Barsby. A few overs later, Kathryn Bryce was on the fold and together with Trenaman, the tight spider from the middle of the innings was passed, causing the score to be. It was all they had to do, and by the 36th over a coverage of Trenaman found the limit to make both the total and see her hair bothered for 75.

So brought a fascinating weekend off cricket. Tasmania had done their homework during the residual day and came up with successful plans to combat the SA -Batting attack. They benefit from the momentum of a first ball wicket to keep SA until 196, quite an achievement on a famous percussion -friendly oval.
