Wizards fend off Raptors 138-117 – TalkBasket.net

The Washington Wizards outlasted the struggling Toronto Raptors 138-117 on Friday evening.

Wizards stars CJ McCollum and Bilal Coulibaly each added 21 points to help them achieve their highest scoring performance of the season.

The Raptors had the NBA’s fourth-best defensive rating on Friday.

Washington ended their four-game home losing streak but still has the NBA’s worst record, 6-23, shooting 59.3% and outscoring the Raptors 46-33 and outscoring the visitors 36-16 in the fourth quarter.

On the other hand, Brandon Ingram led the Raptors with 29 points, while Immanuel Quickley added 25 and Toronto lost nine of thirteen points.

Sandro Mamukelashvili dropped 13 points and 11 rebounds as their starters were sidelined, including RJ Barrett with a knee sprain and Jakob Poeltl with a back injury.

Toronto closed an 11-point halftime deficit to two by the end of the third quarter before struggling in a late quarter against the Wizards.

Justin Champagnie and Bub Carrington sank consecutive 3-pointers to extend Washington’s lead to 10 points with 10:08 to play.

Followed by McCollum and Carrington hitting 3-pointers and George’s running layup in a spurt that extended the lead to 120-104.

The Raptors begin a five-game homestand against the Warriors, while the Wizards continue their homestand against the Grizzlies on Sunday.
