Windemere Saddy ($2.90) was the star of the $4,650 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace in race 12, controlling conditions from the rail for driver Marc Campbell. The four-year-old daughter of Malicious managed splits of 28.2, 58.1 and 1:28.2 before dispatching her rivals in 1:57.2 and fending off a late bid from pocket sitter Shake N Blake (driven by David Dowling) to win for trainer Saul Lanigan and owners Shane Esson, Lanigan, Darcy Doyle and Isaac Schurman. Thealprincess (Gilles Barrieau) rallied for third place.
WINDEMERE SADDY REPEAT
The $4,200 Open Trot in Race 10 delivered quite the upset when Whole Nother ($30.50) used a perfect two-hole trip to spring the surprise for driver Colin Sheppard and trainer Morgan Sheppard. Colin Sheppard, together with Darcy Duffenais, own the game that defeated New Legacy (Dowling) and Fight Song (Jason Hughes).
Applepiemoonshine ($3.30) started the evening in Race 1 with a determined first-over win in 2:02.2 for driver Paul Langille and trainer Luke Burke, while Promise Me Later ($4.60) doubled the trainer in Race 11 with a 1:59.4 win for driver Barrieau.
Marc Campbell had a triple while trainer Jennifer Doyle scored a pair of winners.
