In the $5,500 top class in Race 15, Bee Two Bee ($3.30) and Jason Hughes controlled the compact field from the start, with splits of 28.1, 56.4 and 1:25.2. The Sunshine Beach stallion kicked home in 27.1 and stopped the clock in 1:52.3, seeing off pocket sitter House Edge Hanover (ridden by Gilles Barrieau) by a length and a half as Phil My Beer (Marc Campbell) rallied in third. Bee Two Bee was trained by Ashley Gamester for owners Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge and Blair MacLauchlan of Charlottetown.
BEE TWO BEES REPEAT
The Joe & Steven MacRae Memorial Fall Series took much of the spotlight with three divisions in the first leg for horses racing under specific 2025 earning limits.
The first share of $3,000 in Race 2 went to Buddysnvirgins ($5.10) and Barrieau, who were in the pocket and delivered four and a half lengths in 1:57.4. Windsong Quincy (Marc Campbell) came in second, while Century Invictus (Norris Rogers) came in third. Buddysnvirgins is trained by Darrell Neill for co-owner Ryan Neill.
Power Of Four ($10.70) won the first $3,500 MacRae division in Race 6 with a steering job from pilot Ryan Desroche and owner-trainer Irwin Neill. The seven-year-old son of Sunshine Beach cut splits of 28.2, 57.3 and 1:27.1 and then dug in late to hold off a charging Five Star Dragon (Adam Merner) by a nose at the finish in 1:58 flat. Doc Darryl (Colin Sheppard) sat nearby the entire time, completing the triactor.
On the other $3,500 MacRae stage in Race 9, Phil Dorleans delivered a front-end masterpiece for trainer-driver Merner and owners Kent Williams of Ellerslie and Lyndon Hardy of Coleman. The veteran Shanghai Phil gelding left sharply from post 3, rolling through 28.2, 57.1 and 1:27.1 before kicking away by six and three-quarter lengths in 1:57.1. Spack Jarrow (Hughes) came second, with Im Hungry (Paul Langille) completing the triactor.
Barrieau tripled that day and also won the Preferred 2 Pace in Race 4 with TH Boomtown ($4.50) in 1:54.4 for trainer Ron Matheson and owners Dr. Don Ling and Wayne MacDougall of Stratford. Doc Awesome (MacPherson) and Pendleton Rodeo (Merner) completed the top trio. Ikes Dream ($2.10) was another Barrieau winner in 1:55 from Nova Scotia’s Trevin Shive’s barn, while five-year-old Bettors Delight led from start to finish in race 12 for owner Jim Shive.
At the PEISHOA event in race 7, Geishas Treasure ($4.90) and Marc Campbell controlled every step of a 1:55.2 win for trainer Brendan Mullen and owner Blaize Rogerson.
Earlier in the afternoon it was a perfect start for promising rookie Th Spikey Mikey ($2.10), who turned heavy pari-mutuel support into a crisp 1:58.4 win in Race 1 and remained undefeated in two tries for driver-trainer Corey MacPherson and owners Peter and Ian Smith and Gerald Morrissey. MacPherson hit a double from his shed as Evil Vintage ($12.90) came out to win Race 3 in 1:57.1 for owner Sandra Stead.
MacPherson also tripled on the race bike as High Praise ($3.60) won again with a race 8 victory in 1:55.2 for trainer Jennifer Doyle and owner Ian McKinnon, who kept pacesetter Shadows Terror (Merner) in deep stretch.
Racing continues at Red Shores Charlottetown on Thursday (November 27) at 6pm
