The Washington Capitals hosted the New York Rangers for the final game of 2025.
The Caps got on the board first on a no-look Ryan Leonard pass to Anthony Beauvillier for the wide-open one-timer.
This was Beau’s eighth goal of the season and now has two goals in his last three.
In the remaining seconds of the 1st, the Rangers tied the game on a point shot deflected by friend of the Pod Vincent Trocheck.
Then in the 2nd Olympia, Tom Wilson stepped up to the plate, which was wide open in front of the net, as you would see in a beer league match. 2-1 caps.
This was Willy’s twentieth goal of the season and it is the fastest he has achieved in his career so far (not bad for a “Goon”).
Later in the 2nd, Justin Sourdif scored his first career power play goal on a feed off Ovechkin that deflected off some toes and onto his stick. 3-1 Cap.
The Rangers get one back through Fox’s deadly clapper to make it a 3-2 game.
Midway through the 3rd, Protas scores one off the deflection of Sandin’s shot. 4-2 caps.
Shortly afterwards, Tommy Wilson ripped a top cheese from McMichael’s behind-the-net pass. 5-2 caps. This marks 200 goals for future captain Tom Wilson. He is the sixth player in franchise history to reach this milestone.
Braden Schneider beat Lindgren in the final minutes for the Rangers’ third goal of the game.

As previously mentioned, Wilson was given the Gordie Howe hat and the typical Wilson fashion was made easy by Carrick.
Charlie Lindgren was just okay today, nothing great, but did enough to give us the win.
This was the Caps’ first regular-season win in 13 days, spanning six games. It was good to see Wilson fully healthy again. You could tell in his first match that he was a little slow.
Tom Wilson and Logan Thompson were announced to Team Canada for the upcoming Olympic Games.
