Williams to run fan-influenced Gulf livery in Brazil | RACER

Williams will run a special fan-designed Gulf livery on the FW47 at this weekend’s Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

Gulf has been a Williams partner since 2023 and in that time there have been multiple livery acquisitions with the iconic light blue and orange color scheme. The latter asked fans to share words they associate with racing, with the most popular entries incorporated into the design to be used in Interlagos.

“As an iconic Formula 1 team with a championship-winning legacy and a plan to win again, we know Atlassian Williams Racing means so much to our millions of fans around the world,” said team principal James Vowles. “This incredible livery campaign with Gulf has really brought that to life, and it will be a privilege to race every round in Brazil with the passion and emotion of our fans woven into this beautiful car design.”

The design features 493 words submitted by fans since July, with ‘Legacy’, ‘Passion’ and ‘Teamwork’ being three of the most popular with a total of 140,000 votes.

“The 2025 Driven by Words Gulf x Atlassian Williams Racing livery embodies a seamless fusion of heritage and innovation – where classic racing spirit meets contemporary design,” said Williams head of creative design Ed Scott. “The iconic Gulf orange flows effortlessly from the nose to the rear wing, framed by the unmistakable light blue that has defined motorsport history. Timeless in form yet distinctly modern in nature, the design features bold, purposeful typography inspired by words shared by fans around the world – elegantly woven into pure blue surfaces to create a confident, forward-looking expression of Gulf’s enduring legacy.”

In addition to the special livery, Williams announced a team name and logo change for 2026 earlier this week, swapping Atlassian Williams Racing for the Atlassian Williams F1 Team and including a retro “W” in the new logo.

“I am proud that from next year we will be known as Atlassian Williams F1 Team and will wear a logo on our car inspired by our founder Sir Frank Williams and deeply connected to our decades of success,” Vowles added. “As a team, we are inspired by our past, but excited about our future and committed to writing a new championship-winning chapter in Williams’ history.

“This evolved team identity reflects who we are, where we are going, and reintroduces our title-winning legacy to a growing F1 audience that did not follow the sport when we were last dominant.”
