The best player ever of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Mohammed is wrong (£ 14.4 million), has had a slow start of the season.

The third zero of the Egyptians in five playing weeks was at Chelsea on Saturday.

When he entered the international breakthrough with only four attacking returns-and only one goal from open game-in seven games, more than 323,000 fantasy managers have already sold him since Friday’s deadline.

But is the recent lack of form of Salah just a mistake, or is there something to worry about?

Herein Members Article we will elaborate on it.

Goal threat

Salah has not given so much goal threat this season.

Seven games in 2025/26 he only produced twelve shots, on average one per 52.5 minutes. To context: at the same point last season he had collected 22 shots (one per 27.5 minutes), albeit with ‘easier’ matches.

His expected goals without penalties (NPXG) have also fallen from 3.31 to 1.18.

In fact, this is its lowest NPXG number after game week 7 of all nine seasons at Liverpool:

SeasonSalah’s Non-pen XG Na GW7
2025/261.18
2024/253.31
2023/242.22
2022/232.55
2021/224.24
2020/212.59
2019/203.00
2018/195.14
2017/184.10

On Saturday, however, there were at least openings against Chelsea.

Florian Wirtz (£ 8.1 million) Early in the second half, he prepared him perfectly for a big chance, while Salah then intervened and shot over the bar a few minutes later.

“What I like is that we have brought him many times in the position in which he would like to be and I would like him to be in it, because he has shown in his career and since I am here, that he can score goals at those positions. And I think he has had many opportunities today to do what he has done so often. – Arne Slot about Mohamed Salah, speaking after Saturday’s defeat on Stamford Bridge

In Europe the story was also very different: Salah scored six times against Atletico Madrid last month.
