Jessie Grant from Port Melbourne and Steve Fitzgerald love their suburb, they are planning to stay there for life.

When some friends were to sell their house with four bedrooms in Port Melbourne, the couple grabbed the chance to secure it.

“You know, we can get a much larger house for much less money in the Burbs,

But we just love living in Port Melbourne, “said Mrs. Grant.

“We love everything and we just couldn’t see ourselves leave.”

In the future, after their boys have grow up and moved, she and Mr. Fitzgerald are ready to join a group of their friends who are planning to buy apartments in the same Port Melbourne building.

White Fox Associate Director Cheyne Fox said that the parks, schools, shops, restaurants, friendly community and proximity to Port Melbourne in Melbourne’s CBD meant that many locals in the suburb had watched an upize or reduction.

The “somewhat softer” market now allowed buyers to buy houses in the suburb that they might not have affected three to four years ago, Mrs Fox added.

“So while there was something at $ 3 million or just over a few years ago, it now dives to $ 2.6 million, $ 2.7 million and it makes it more feasible for those people,” she said.

“And I see some smart buyers who are aware of it and cut some really good property at very reasonable prices, given what they were a few years ago.”
