Why missing the boat in FPL hurts less than refusing to board

Why missing the boat in FPL hurts less than refusing to board

In our latest community article, FPL_Runpharm discusses the dangers of Being Stubborn as Manager Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Have you ever been here earlier?

A player in a red -hot form. Everyone hurries to buy it. His price shoots £ 0.2 million, £ 0.3 million, £ 0.4 million, perhaps even £ 0.5 million in just a few game week. Affices are good, shape is better … and yet you don’t own it.

And somehow you still don’t buy it.

You say to yourself:

“I will not be a FOMO manager.”
“I don’t want to be a template.”
“His shape will not last.”
“I missed the boat .. Why pay more if others got it cheaper?”
“I will eventually be proven immediately because I am not following the crowd.”

But the truth?

Sometimes it’s just ego. If you do not want to admit that you have previously made the wrong call, you will doubl (stay with someone of the form or force a differential choice) instead of correcting it.

For me the example is this season Antoine Semenyo (£ 7.5 million). I didn’t have him in the first three game week. Years ago I would have been kept stubborn Cole Palmer (£ 10.4 million) Despite the fact that I was uncertain to start, inconsistent form and harder luminaires after Brentford, because I wanted to be ‘right’.

But the reality is simple: Semenyo is the better choice. Incredible shot volume, fixture run still good, team attack that attacks well, possible pens like Justin Kluivert (£ 7.0 million) is not on the field (admittedly, we only knew that after Saturday’s game).

Even for £ 7.5 million, still value. Yes, £ 7.0 million would have been nicer. But £ 7.5 million is not bad at all. And sometimes the bravest movement is not to resist the crowd- it is to swallow you proudly and just admit that you were too late.

That said, I made one phone call that I was happy with, and brought Semenyo in for the Gameweek 4 Deadline. I buzzing that he was doing well (I am also happy that Palmer was contracted and scored!). Even better, it left me the money to the Erling (£ 14.1 million) Move in Gameweek 6.

For those who still don’t have him, I don’t say you have to bring it in now. I just say that the real punishment does not pay £ 0.5 million more; It sees him seeing again dragging while your ego keeps you frozen.
