Erling Haaland (£14.9m) scored again for the millions of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers who presented him with the armband in Gameweek 11, although a missed penalty limited him to just four points.
The captaincy decision may not be so simple in Gameweek 12 as Manchester City travel to fellow Champions League club Newcastle United.
In Captain Sensible we investigate whether there is reason to look beyond the Norwegian this week, especially with Arsenal and Manchester United playing at home and Chelsea facing Burnley in a strong match.
First we assess the captain on site poll. We will then analyze player and team statistics, Rate my team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools reviews to determine the best captain for Gameweek 12 before Saturday’s deadline at 11am GMT.
Captain poll
As usual, Haaland leads Fantasy Football Scout’s captaincy poll. Just over 39% of site users believe the Norwegian, who has scored fourteen goals in eleven league starts, is the best option for Gameweek 12.
João Pedro (£7.5m) is the only other player to have at least 10% of the vote ahead of an attractive clash for Chelsea against Burnley on Saturday.
Elsewhere there is little to distinguish Jean-Philippe Mateta (£8.1 million), Antoine Semenyo (£8.1 million) and Bukayo Saka (£10.1m) in a very crowded field, Haaland aside.
