Wow, winning a good feeling. The Chicago White Sox today had a strong, all-round game to steal the game of the Detroit Tigers, 6-4, together with the series. The SOX ends their straight 17 game stretch with a victory in Comerica Park, and the aircraft ride home will certainly have all the vibes. The team is now 7-1 in their last eight games on this road trip.
Charlie Morton started the game on the hill for the Tigers, who had met a lead -off single from Mike Tauchman and walked to Lenyn Sosa. This left two runners with two out for Andrew Benintendi, who benefited with a two-run double.
Davis Martin also came in a number of early problems, because the Tigers immediately tied it back into the lower half of the inning. Gleyber Torres ran, Kerry Carpenter hit a double of the foundation and a Riley Greene walk loaded the bases without outs. Looking at the box score was interesting for this piece, because a crazy game by Brooks Baldwin could score two points in midfield. Baldwin insured it on the sacrifice of Spencer Torkelson, but a throw error went out of the game, allowing two runs to score.
Wenscheel Pérez had another sacrifice to give Detroit the lead before the inning ended, although Lenyn Sosa hit a solo shot to start the middle to start the top of the third and tie it again. This was his 20th of the season and led the team.
Tyler Holton replaced Morton to start the top of the fourth, while Martin went on the hill for the White Sox and it gave up … You guessed it, another sacrifice for a run!
With the tigers now up, 4-3. Will Robertson had the catch of the day in MLB. It was not only the catch of the day, but perhaps the catch of the year for the South Siders. Take a look at how he added over the fence to remove this home run:
Place it at all highlights.
In the meantime, Martin was immediately replaced after the out by Brandon claims. Martin went a solid 5 1/3 IP with two hits, four points, three free runs and three strikeouts. Interesting Stat line to say the least, but because of two of his undeserved points, his era goes to 4.03.
At the top of the seventh, the South Siders found some fighting in them, while they unfortunately tied it out. Colson Montgomery and Benintendi had back-to-back, one-out walks and Robertson supplied on the plate with a two-out single.
SOSA supplied with its solo shot in the top of the eighth, while the White Sox took the two-run lead. Chase girl and Tauchman had back-to-back singles to start it, and Kyle Teel took a walk to load the loading, no outs. With a link, SOSA supplied single in the middle, which drove in what the game-winning runs held up, 6-4.
From there, Jordan Lasure and Mike Vasil have closed it in Comerica, and you can drive home safely.
It feels good to win and it feels good to look good baseball. The team not only plays one of their best baseball of the season, but was actually one of the better teams in the MLB in September. They achieve their 55th victory because they look closer to avoid 100 losses in the year. After a long piece, the team has a day to rest tomorrow before they start a quick home position against the Tampa Bay Rays from Tuesday evening.
That makes way for Da Bears to play tomorrow night, so let’s hope they can continue the good vibes in Chicago, and we’ll see you here on Tuesday!
