Which Williamson does “the Gift” win?

This Sunday is one of the feature films on the Oamaru Harness Racing Card the $ 40,000 group three Jasmyn’s Gift Fillies and Mares Stakes.

The race is named after the gift of Jasmyn that was bred by Phil and Bev Williamson and she is named after their daughter Jasmyn.

Phil trained her to win seventeen races and she is a special horse for the family.

“She was a really good mare. She was probably missing the high speed and sparkle of a few of the other we had in the team, but there was no stronger than she was. She was a very good lasting mare,” said Nathan Williamson, who drove her to win five times.

Phil drove her for the majority of her early victories, but in August 2006 Nathan took over the reins.

“I had had a season through the ranks and Dad was still driving her at that stage. I was lucky because mum and dad had her and she offered me the opportunity to ride her in a cheap race in Addington in the winter. She won again and then won the test. The culminated in her free winning for everything on show day.”

And the whole family was present on the show day to celebrate the victory.

“Yes, they were all there to take their photo. It was a wet day, so we all looked like drowned rats.”

When she won the 2005 Group One New Zealand Trotting Championship, the Gift by Jasmyn Phil and BEV’s first Group One winner as breeders and owners and when she eliminated the new Zeeland who trotted for free for everything she provided Nathan of his first group of one winning Drive.

Sunday’s race is the fourth edition of the Jasmyn Gift.

“It will probably be the best gambling race of the day. There is a lot of talented mares. I think HRNZ noticed that there were no merring races for trotters. Gosh, these races for mares are well supported since they kept the Silk Road and all these varieties.

Phil has two runners in this year’s edition – Practical Magic (Majestic son) that will run from the front and Empire City (Volstead)) that starts 20 meters.

Practical magic was stopped and broke in Kurow at her last start and has since been back to the tests.

“She didn’t trot as well as she was in her final preparation, so we have our fingers cross, we get a better run of her on Sunday. It won’t be easy because it’s a very strong field,” said Phil.

Empire City is the richest money earner in the race and shares the twenty -meter handicap with Eurostyle. At her last start at Addington, she was strongly completed her race and ran third behind Muscle Mountain and Midnight Dash.

“She must have a chance, but it is a very strong race with countless opportunities and it will come down to how the race is run. Fred Fletcher’s Horse (Royal Gypsy) is quite able to go forward and put the pressure on the entire race for the race.

So what does Phil think about the opportunities of Empire City?

“I would like to think she would be one of the winning opportunities. Eurostyle is definitely the class horse in the race, but can she do it out of 30 (meters)? She might be the type of horse that can work and still wins. She looks exceptionally good.”

Matty trains and drives Princess Sadie (Muscle mass) It starts with the front line. She raced for the last time in Addington at the beginning of August where mistakes her costs. She has been refreshed since then and won a process on Wednesday.

“She went pretty well and I’m glad she goes into the races. She is clearly fresh, but she usually goes that way. In her last race she got her head a bit, so I put her a pole this week to save her. Overs,” said Matty.

Brad also has one runner, mixed faith (Father Patrick). Her form line is excellent, but Sunday’s race is a significant rise in the class for the eight win squareegaiter.

“It is a big field and we have a mare who is probably in the form of her life. She might miss the ability of some of the best mares in the race. Our goal will be to get away as quickly as possible and hopefully make it difficult for some backmarkers,” said Brad.

Completion of the Williamson Assault on “The Gift” is hidden talent (Bacardi Lindy) trained and driven by Nathan Williamson.

She was an impressive winner at Kurow four weeks ago and starts the 30 -meter handicap.

“I was going to take her to the orderal Are a lot of good mares in there and the winner Come from Any One of Ten Runners.

Because the race was named after her, we thought we would ask the thoughts of Jasmyn Williamson about who will win. As predicted by one of her brothers, she goes with her father when choosing Empire City.
