The Phoenix Suns may have had the season of hell in 2024-25 – but when drawing up Ryan Dunn and Oso ighodaro – they have at least one thing good. The Front Office has actually done well in recent years to identify the right young talent to add to their selection, even if they still feel the scars to exchange the best of the couple.
Both Dunn and Iighodaro also had Solid Rookie -trips, it was certainly not their fault that the team won only 36 games and both Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal jumped this summer ship. If there was something, the Suns were a remarkably better defensive outfit when the couple was on the field, and the figures do that back.

But if the Suns could only keep one as part of their rebuilding around Devin Booker, which should it be? We have already given the idea to add ighodaro to the trading package to try to acquire Jonathan Kuminga – and as you can see from the poll results below – that was not well received by the fan base.

It is also real value to have ighodaro in this schedule, because of its ability to play both the four and the five. He is a nice insurance policy such as Rookie – Center Kaman Maluach does not succeed – and it will take a lot of time to bring him where the suns need him – but ighodaro can also play next to him.
He has the athletics to be a dominant attacker, he just needs a little more consistency for his attacking game. He currently does not shoot 3-Pointers, but more than that, the 4.2 points he came on average last season, often came through well-backs and having a bigger and bounce frame than some of the defenders who were the task of stopping him.
That is why Dunn here is the safer gamble of the two. It probably says that if the Suns decided to make both available today – it is Dunn who would arouse more interest. As a first round Pick for Uighodaro’s second there is no shame and that, but he has a legitimate two -way potential as a small attacker and he showed an impressive shooting stroke from deep for periods of last season.
The comparisons with Mikal bridges are clear, although Dunn has a way to be as important as he ever was before the sun. The arrival of Dillon Brooks also does not help his search for a greater role. But he can already defend a number of elite scorers in this competition, and he has the wingspan and body type to become even better as time passes.
So hard how it is for ighodaro – if the sun is ever in a position where they can exchange one of these two to get more choices and perhaps another young player in a different position – Impodaro is the man who should go. Given all the problems that this franchise has had in recent years, this is a great place to be in and the valley is grateful that they both have now.
